How to Pray for Your Children and Grandchildren

Pray...

1. That they will be saved early in life.
2 Tim. 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2. That they will develop a hatred for sin.
Pslm. 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

3. That they will be caught when guilty.
Pslm. 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

4. That they will be protected from evil in each area of their lives: spiritual, mental, social and physical.
John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

5. That they will have a responsible attitude in all interpersonal relationships.
Dan. 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

6. That they will respect the authorities in their lives.
Rom. 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

7. That they will desire right friends and be protected from wrong friends.
Prov. 1:10-11 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

8. That they will be kept from the wrong mate and will be saved for the right mate. 2 Cor. 6:14-15 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

9. That both they and those they will marry will be kept pure until marriage.
2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

10. That they will actively resist Satan in all circumstances.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

11. That they will be singlehearted--willing to be sold out to Jesus Christ.
Rom. 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

12. That they will be hedged in so they cannot find their way to wrong people or wrong places--and that wrong people will not find them.
Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

This is an excellent post, Honey. The battle is raging for our children, but I'm so thankful we have a GOD to Whom we can turn to make our petitions known.
I love you!

Very good post Bro. Jim!! These are all very important things to know. The enemy is out to destroy our children. He knows that if he can get to the home it will be through the children that he will be most successful. May we all be faithful to standing in the gap on behalf of our children.

Bro Jim this is a great post the Lord gave you as Mrs Julie the battle is in the home. If we are weak in the home we will be weak in the church. God help us to pray for our children and grandchildren. Too many young people since I have been saved who have grown up in a Christian home have went the other direction. Thank God for those that have not given in the wiles of the devil. Thanks for the post.
Bro Tim

The Lord has blessed us all with wonderful children... but you can be sure that the Devil is after them!!! Let's not only pray for our own children, but for all that are living in today's wicked world!!!
