Statements Contrary to our Current Political Philosophy

Hmmmmm........ the statements below make perfect sense to me, but I wonder what our "leaders" in Washington, D.C. would have to say about them......

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

5. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

NewsWithViews Excerpts Worth Reading

Just catching up some of my email tonight, and I thought I would pass a thought or two (or three) your way from my reading of several articles from the NewsWithViews.com mailing list I received this week. Comments are welcome but I am sure the article authors would appreciate your feedback just as well.... and allow me to say I do not agree 100% with the entire views and language and theology of these authors, but most of the time, they do make me think!!!!!

"SOCIAL JUSTICE" IS NOT CHRISTIAN CHARITY by Paul Proctor
http://www.newswithviews.com/PaulProctor/proctor204.htm

You will find the word “justice” in scripture, as you will the word “gospel” – but you won’t find the word “social” in front of either of them because “social justice,” like the “social gospel,” is the wily work of men, not the Will and Word of God. Jesus Christ did not suffer and die on a cross so we could repair, remodel and rehabilitate a wicked world for Him to rule over, but instead to redeem us from it for a “kingdom not of this world.”

If someone doesn’t speak up and point this out, the issue will be forever confusing, controversial and divisive and the Church will continue to be swayed off course by those with political ambitions.

Scriptures containing the words “justice,” “justly,” and “judgment” that progressives handily quote to try and validate “social justice” as a Christian concept and mandate for the Church are predominately from the Old Testament, which is ironic considering progressives by and large prefer to dismiss or discount much of the OT and its so called “legalism” because it inconveniently clashes with their no-absolutes and no-authority philosophies, theologies and lifestyles. Frankly, it is God’s justice and judgments throughout the Old Testament that confound and offend progressives the most about the Bible resulting in the sleazy greasy grace they preach and practice as “Christianity.”

DOUBLESPEAK: THE LANGUAGE OF DECEPTION PART 4 by Martha West
http://www.newswithviews.com/West/marsha189.htm

Christendom has its fair share of doublespeak within its ranks. Conservative Christian apologists and those involved in the counter cult and discernment ministries who dare to expose apostates are accused of being divisive. For example, if a conservative attempts to combat the spread of the social justice gospel that emphasizes good deeds without the power of the gospel, their liberal critics cry “Pharisee!” Implying that these critics are Pharisees is another way of saying that they are narrow-minded, mean-spirited and unloving -- and yes, even intolerant and bigoted.

Word Faith (false) teachers use “heresy hunter” to define the opposition. But in reality discernment ministries are “truth-seekers.”

Most mature Christians recognize heresy when it rears its ugly head. But when they speak out against prominent false teachers who are leading the Body of Christ astray, their bamboozled followers invariably play the Matthew 7:1 card:

“Judge not, lest you be judged.”

This is doublespeak for: Shut the heck up!

First of all, discernment demands that we make judgments. As my pastor, Stan Way, said in a recent sermon, faithful Christians live their lives in a new center of gravity — the biblical worldview. Serious Christians must stand up and speak the truth with conviction and courage. We must be willing to lose our life for Christ and the gospel. In other words, for truth! Further, we must be willing to be treated with contempt by the world. Jesus said, “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels” (Mark 8:38).

I don’t know about you, but I’m not ashamed and I will not be bullied into shutting up!

INTELLECTUAL BIGOTRY By Coach Dave Daubenmire
http://www.newswithviews.com/Daubenmire/dave187.htm

Bigotry—a stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.

Am I the only one who is sick of it or are we just so conditioned to sit obediently in the pew that we have forgotten how to stand up and fight? How long are we going to allow ourselves to be treated as second-class citizens in the land for which our fathers fought and died?

My blood boils over the way Christians have permitted the elitists to have silenced us. I can think of no other people-group who has permitted their system of beliefs to be so totally disregarded as those of us who proudly espouse Faith in Jesus.

In America, the new caliphate are the scientists and the academicians. They are the one’s who determine what will and will not be permitted. Anyone who stands on the authority of the Word of God is automatically written off as “religious.” Holding firm to faith in Jesus is secular apostasy and requires censorship so that the public will not be influenced by such fables.

They are very subtle, these secular bigots. They know that they can not get away with attacking the Truth of Christianity, but they can get away with a “reclassification” of Christianity. In their particular form of bigotry it is not that Christianity is “wrong” but that it is “religious” and religious views are not to hold equal sway with “science”. Science is head-knowledge (facts) while Christianity is heart knowledge (faith).

If you even hint of bringing Christian beliefs into the discussion you automatically become the law breaker and deserving of rebuke. “Religious beliefs belong in church, not in public discussion.” The “tolerant” intellectual bigots are only protecting innocent minds from “religious indoctrination” while they preach their secular gospel free of opposition. Soon we will be able to demand a Christian-history month in our schools.

A Tale of Two Murders

(Here is an article published June 5, 2009 in The Washington Flyer that is an interesting read; I had thought of the same thing earlier this week..... I wondered about the difference in response?!?!?!)

This past week Americans profiled two horrific acts of violence as Dr. George Tiller, known for his heinous acts against the unborn, was murdered in his church. A day later, America also witnessed a United States Army recruiter be murdered and another seriously injured, as they were fulfilling their duties in the great country they serve. Both acts of violence were horrific and unacceptable, yet the difference in response to both incidents is perhaps even more chilling. Within hours of the announcement of George Tiller’s murder, the President appropriately released a statement:

“I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.”

Attorney General Eric Holder also dispatched U.S. Marshals to protect “appropriate people and facilities around the nation,” in response to the murder of George Tiller. While authorities believe Tiller’s murderer acted alone, precautionary steps were taken.

In response to the murder of a U.S. Army Private, William Long, on home soil, the President stated absolutely nothing. Attorney General Eric Holder also made no comment and no U.S. Marshalls were directed to other recruiting stations, despite authorities, including the FBI, unsure if the suspect, a newly converted Muslim, acted alone or as evidence may be suggesting had ties with other domestic terrorists.

It was not until three days after the attack and an outcry from conservative media links and American citizens alike, that the President released this statement:

“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”

Understanding the busy schedule of the President, it is still difficult to believe a simple statement or condolences to the family were not a priority. In fact, the President was even given a superb opportunity to denounce the actions of the perpetrator and give his respects to the soldiers and their families not even 24 hours after the attack when he announced the new Secretary of the Army. Again, nothing was said or mentioned. Some critics believe the President did not make comments regarding the attack earlier, fearing its impact when he traveled to the Middle East later in the week to reach out to Muslims.

While the President may not have made his remarks as hastily as many would have hoped, others were perturbed even further by the choice of words the President used and his ignorance to denounce the reasons behind the attacks. Bloggers criticized his word usage in response to the attack on the recruiters claiming “senseless act of violence” was a ignorant view of the evidence that suggests the actions were not senseless but rather planned and operated with a goal in mind. The President’s comments of being personally “shocked and outraged” when learning of the death of an abortion doctor compared to his “deeply saddened” statement of the attack on the U.S. soldiers also seemed a bit out of touch with many Americans.

Benjamin Franklin once stated, “Words may show a man’s wit, but actions his meaning.” While the President addressed both horrible incidents in words, his actions to remain silent for three days when a soldier was murdered by a terror suspect, compared to his rapid response to the murder of an abortion doctor have brought some questioning of his meanings.

The Sovereignty of God in the Affairs of Human Government

Dan. 2:21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Dan. 4:17, 25, 32 .... the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

Observations:
  1. God is sovereign in the affairs of men.
  2. He sets up rulers and removes them.
  3. God makes all events of history including all of the decisions of rulers, kings, presidents, parliaments, and all of the actions of human governments including military advancements to serve His will. Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
  4. Caesar Augustus was an instrument of God's will when he decreed a taxation should be taken. Compare Luke 2:1 with Micah 5:2.
  5. Numerous times in Matthew 2:14, 15, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23 governmental action directly affected Jesus and in so doing fulfilled prophecy. In each case, the people involved acted freely, doing what they intended to do, yet, in each instance, they did exactly what God had planned for them to do.
  6. Herod and Pilate were instruments of God's divine will. Acts 4:27-28 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
  7. We should put our trust in God and not in the decision-making power of politicians, governmental officials, and supreme courts. God can direct the heart of our leaders. Prov. 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
  8. God not only determines who governs, He also rules in the decisions that they make. Prov. 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
  9. Some of the greatest Christians lived under some of the most wicked rulers. a) Paul under Nero - Romans 13 b) Daniel under Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, Darius, and Cyrus c) God can use wicked men to serve His purpose - Jer. 25:9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.
  10. Some of the greatest miracles took place under some of the most wicked regimes. a) Jesus Christ was slain by "religious" men. Matt. 26:3-4 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. b) Acts 4:27-28 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
  11. Some of the greatest revivals took place under some of the most wicked rulers; i.e. Jonah in Ninevah.
  12. Those in authority need our prayers - 1 Tim. 2:1-4 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Christians are Commanded to Pray for Our Governmental Leaders

1 Tim. 2:1-3 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Romans 13:1-6 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Key Government Leaders each Christian should pray for:
  1. The President of the USA
  2. The nine members of the Supreme Court
  3. The two Senators from your home state
  4. The Congressional Representative for your home district
  5. The state Senators or Representatives for your home district
  6. The Governor of your home state
  7. The Mayor of your local town
  8. The City Council of your local town
  9. The County Commisioners of your local county
  10. The members of the school board in your local area, whether city or county

How do I pray for these governmental leaders???

  1. Pray that they will fear God
  2. Pray that they will have faith in God
  3. Pray that they will walk with God
  4. Pray that they will be a friend to God's people
  5. Pray that they will reject ungodly counsel
  6. Pray that they will resist wrong pressure
  7. Pray that they will do what is right for the country over personal ambition
  8. Pray for God to bless their homes and marriages

Pray that the Lord will raise up God-fearing men to hold public office!!!!!

Scripture is the Best Voting Guide!!!

(Here is an article in today's Baptist Press News worth sharing; I have added scripture references with verses to facilitate the article's reading.)

Ed Young Jr. : Scripture is the Best Voter Guide
written by Michael Foust

GRAPEVINE, Texas (BP)--Scripture provides guidance for Christians in deciding which candidate to support on Election Day, Texas pastor Ed Young Jr. told his congregation Oct. 19.

It was the second part in a sermon series Young has dubbed "Politicked." The pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine gave five categories believers should examine about each political candidate.

"Once we ask ourselves these five questions and once we answer them, then we'll be ready to vote for the right person," he said.

The five categories are:
  1. Character - "Everything begins with character," said Young, pointing to Proverbs 29:2: "... If we elect righteous leaders, our government will be righteous, and if our government is righteous then the laws will be righteous." (Prov. 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.) Christians should take a political candidate's private conduct seriously, Young said. "Character can be defined as who you are when no one's looking," he said. " ... For a long, long time, people have said, 'Who you are in private does not really affect who you area in public office.' ... That's absolutely, friends, nuts, because who you are in private is who you are. Who you are in private is who you are in public."
  2. Conviction - Reading from Proverbs 28:1 -- which says the "righteous are bold as a lion" -- Young said, "We need to elect lionesses and lions in this day -- people who are not politicians, but people who are statesmen, people who are leaders." That conviction, he said, must be based on God's Word. (Prov. 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.) He mentioned the "gay agenda" as one area where society is moving away from scriptural teachings. "God has told us from cover to cover that there is only one context where sex should be enjoyed and practiced and celebrated -- marriage.... The Bible tells me and it tells you that during the end of time ... what is right [will be viewed as] wrong and [what is] wrong [will be viewed as] right." Referencing those who compare the homosexual movement to the civil rights movement, Young said, "I've known a lot of former homosexuals but I've never met a former African American."
  3. Courage - "Does this candidate display courage?" Young asked. "Can you look at this candidate's life -- the history of him or her -- and say, 'You know what? He stood up for courage there. She stood up for courage.' ... Courage is the God-given ability to stand.... Conviction is belief. Courage is behavior." Pointing to Proverbs 11:3, Young said, "The other day I heard a candidate being interviewed, and here's the response the candidate made to a question on morality, ... 'Well, for me as a Christian.' ... That was a relativistic answer. . The relativist says, 'What's right for you is true for you and what's true for you is true for you.'" (Prov. 11:3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.) Giving an example of the absurdity of relativism, Young said someone could say, as part of the relativistic worldview, "What's true for me is to fly airliners into the sides of skyscrapers and kill hundreds and hundreds of people."
  4. Compassion - Giving the biblical definition of compassion, Young read from Proverbs 31:8-9, which says, "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." (Prov. 31:8-9 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.) He also read from Proverbs 24:11, "Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter." (Prov. 24:11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;) Abortion, Young said, is an issue where a political candidate must show compassion. "We're taking the lives, of ... 3,200 babies a day -- taking the lives of developing babies -- when you'll get thrown in prison and pay an astronomical fine if you disturb the eggs of developing sea turtles," he said. "What's right is wrong and [what's] wrong is right."
  5. Constituency - Young said examining who supports and opposes the candidate can help determine who to support. "I can meet your friends, without even meeting you, and tell you what kind of a person you are," Young said. "Who applauds this potential candidate and who opposes them? We better wake up and smell the coffee, here, friends. If the mainstream secular media supports a candidate or an issue, there is a great chance that something is sideways, [and] you better look at that one very, very closely. Who opposes them? Who is for them?"

Michael Foust is an assistant editor of Baptist Press. Young's sermon can be viewed online at www.fellowshipchurch.com.

Government Cannot Do Church's Job

(Here is an excerpt from an article posted by Pastor Chuck Baldwin earlier this week with some interesting commentary. The entire article can be found at http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin418.htm)

One thing that Christians should come to terms with is the truism that government cannot do the church's job. Not in any shape, manner, or form. Yet, by the way many Christians and pastors behave these days, one gets the impression that they don't really understand this truth. Instead, it seems that many Christians and ministers see the government--especially the federal government--as an extension of the church.

It is equally apparent that many Christians and ministers today have developed the attitude that somehow the federal government is supposed to enforce by law what only the Spirit of God can enforce through grace. Let's be plain: the federal government cannot do the church's job.

The role of the federal government is to secure the rights that are given to us by God. Namely, the rights of life, liberty, and property. Properly understood, the role of the federal government has little to do with providing "services," and everything to do with securing the liberties of the people. It is just that simple.

However, a majority of Americans today believe that the federal government (in essence) is supposed to be father, mother, provider, teacher, doctor, and even preacher to people. Instead of looking to God, the family, the church, and individual responsibility, we look to Uncle Sam. And this sentiment is shared by a host of professing Christians as well.

Therefore, instead of doing the hard work of teaching and disciplining our children, we look to Uncle Sam to straighten out our rebellious kids. Instead of preaching the hard messages of truth from our pulpits, churches expect Uncle Sam to straighten out (through the power of law) all those "bad" people out there. Instead of taking personal responsibility for our own health and livelihood, we expect Uncle Sam to be our provider and protector.

Take the issue of morality, for example. When, pray tell, did it become the responsibility of the federal government to define, inspect, and enforce morality? Is this not first, the responsibility of the home, and second, the responsibility of the church? Do we really desire a federal government with the power to define and enforce morality? God forbid!

At this point, I should make it clear that state and local governments have every right--and even the responsibility--to establish community standards. State and local governments are legitimately within their rights to prohibit those activities deemed harmful to the health and well-being of their communities.

If states or municipalities want to prohibit "adult" book stores, they certainly have the right to do so. If they want to make prostitution and drug use illegal, they have every right to do so. If they want to regulate nightclubs and honky-tonks, more power to them. I, for one, have no desire to live in Pottersville. However, none of this is any of Uncle Sam's business!

Here is the problem: our pastors have become spiritual pantywaists and our churches have become spiritual playgrounds. Pastors and churches have sold their souls to success-driven "ministry." We want big attendances, big offerings, big family life centers, big youth departments, big Sunday Schools, and big-name people on our membership rolls. And we will do whatever it takes to achieve it.

And most of the time, in order to accommodate our overwhelming desire to be a "big success," pastors and churches will soften the message to the point that the average Sunday sermon is little more than a glorified "how-to-get-rich," or "how-to-be-happy," or "how-to-avoid-guilt," ad infinitum, ad nauseum, pep-talk. Words such as "sinner," "Hell," "judgment," "retribution," and "repentance" have been permanently removed from the vocabulary of the average pastor. The plain, powerful, old-fashioned Gospel has been replaced with sloppy, mushy, offend-no-one sermonettes that could not bring Holy Spirit conviction if one even wanted it--which hardly anyone does.

Furthermore, the music program of the average church is nothing more than a hard-rock concert, and our youth programs are little more than dating services. There is no church discipline or accountability. People can dress (or undress) any way they want, talk any way they want, and act any way they want with little or no supervision or oversight.

Then, when our families and communities go to Hell, instead of hitting the prayer closet and asking God to send revival to our hearts, our homes, and our churches, we demand that Uncle Sam fix it. We support presidential candidates who say they will lead the federal government in finding solutions to all of our ills.

Ladies and gentlemen, the federal government cannot do the church's job. The church has an obligation to be the "light" and "salt" of society. It should be setting the standard of righteousness through its preaching and teaching. It should be willing to call a spade a spade, even if it offends business leaders and politicians in the process.

Likewise, the federal government cannot do the family's job. It is the responsibility of each mother and father to teach morality and faith to their children. Parents are given the task of disciplining and correcting their children.

Let's tell it like it is: America is fast losing its moral compass because our families and churches are not doing their respective jobs. And the problem is, when families and churches fail, there is no Plan B. That is, not without the loss of freedom and independence.

The federal government cannot do the job of the family and the church, because everything it does is at the expense of something else. The only wealth it has is what it confiscates from someone else. The only power it has is what it steals from someone else. The only "services" it provides are at the expense of someone else. This is why our country's founding documents state that the federal government's role was to be very limited and narrowly defined.

As someone rightly said, "A government that is big enough to give you all you want, is big enough to take it all away." Amen.

Therefore, instead of looking to presidential candidates who will use the federal government to accomplish everything we want done (even the good things we want done), we should support only those candidates who recognize the proper role of the federal government as being limited and narrowly defined (by the Constitution). And then, it behooves us to look to ourselves to be the parents we should be to our own children at home, and to look for pastors and churches that are not trying to be popular, but that are courageous and faithful custodians of the truth.

Amoral Leadership for Amoral America

(Here is an excerpt from Dave Daubenmire's article posted on the News With Views website which sadly speaks the truth about the lack of leadership of today's political "statesmen" as well as the spiritual climate of the American people, especially "Christians." Click on the title link above to read the entire article if you are interested.)

Amoral - having no moral standards, restraints, or principles; unaware of or indifferent to questions of right or wrong:

Shallow. That is the best way to describe those who are being paraded before us as legitimate contenders for election to the highest office in the land. Has that ever been more apparent than what the two major parties present to us today? Oh, how I long for a man who will “call them as he sees them.”

But, unfortunately, the modern political philosophy of the day is that the safest position to take in politics is “no position,” or as we have seen in the latest “debates,” both positions! Today’s candidates have become masters of fence riding and double-speak. Sadly, most of the electorate, dumbed-down by government education and indoctrinated with moral relativism, is unable to fight through the fog.

As I listened to Rudy Guilani waffle-on about how he is “personally” against abortion but for a woman’s “right” to make the “difficult” choice it became obvious to me that Truth has fallen in the streets. Murder is now called choice. A-merica is becoming a-moral.

James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Psalm 94:16-17 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

No wonder America is wavering. Our leaders no longer believe in right and wrong.

Consider where this moral double-mindedness has taken us.
* Pornography is protected speech, but prayer is not.
* A 16 year can have an abortion but she can’t smoke a cigarette.
* Seat belts are mandatory, citizenship is not.
* Homosexuality is love, opposition to it is hate.
* We worship Mother Earth and deny Father God.
* Hip-hop vulgarity floods the school’s hallway while Gospel expression is censored.
* Public school students told to have sex and to do drugs, but Bible preaching is forbidden.

The pre-selected 1st tier of candidates were the only ones to be taken seriously. Congressman Paul and his ilk were not welcome in the “big tent” Republican debates. Make your choice, Rudy, McCain, or Romney. Any other candidate is a distraction because no one else is capable of winning. And Christians are eating it up. We have been told to ignore the Republican Party’s amoral positions in an attempt to be more “inclusive.” Eeny, Meeny, and Miny, are your choices. Forget Mo, because he just can’t win.

So, I listened closely to what Eeny, Meeny, and Miney said last week. They’re great at double-speak. No matter which position you hold, they share it. What a deal! Finally a candidate that thinks like me!

But Rudy is the master. As I said before, he is “personally” against abortion, but for a woman’s right to “choose.” He would like to see all abortions “end” but doesn’t think the government should intervene in a woman’s right to “reproductive choice.” He likes Judges Scalia and Alito, but agrees with Judge Ginsburg.

So the candidates are able to get away with a position that supports the killing of innocent children in the safety of a mother’s womb, even though he/she is “personally” against abortion. What a crock. Allow me to extrapolate how vacuous this position is.

Since a candidate “supports” a position that he/she is “personally” opposed to, wouldn’t it be safe to assume that he/she applies the same rationale to other issues? Would you seriously consider a candidate who took the following positions?
  • I am personally opposed to slavery, but I am for a slave-owners right to choose.
  • I personally oppose rape, but I am for a rapist’s right to personal choice.
  • I personally oppose murder, but I am for a murderer’s right to do it.
  • I personally oppose lynching, but I am for a white man’s justice.
  • I am personally opposed to incest, but I am for father’s rights.
  • I personally oppose suicide bombings, but who am I to tell another how he can express his faith?
  • I personally oppose border jumping, but I am for a man’s right to choose what is best for his family.

I am personally opposed to…………you fill in the blank. Both positions is no position.

Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

We have reached a water-shed moment in American history. Double-mindedness will be our undoing. Compartmentalized morality will no longer work. Amorality is no morality.

How have we reached the point where amoral men are chosen as leaders? Where personal morality can be separated from public morality? Where sin has become a government-protected right? And those who speak the truth are called radicals or negative.

Our Christian leadership encourages their flock to support the “lesser of two evils?” What Scripture verse is that, the supporting of any evil?

Exodus 18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

"If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it." --Charles Finney
