(The following post is an excerpt from The Comfort Food blog which I thought I would share with my faithful blog readers. It contains some food for thought.....)
Question: "What really shocks me here are the number of Christians who are afraid of atheists...What is scary about someone not believing the same thing as you...? Perhaps I am asking the wrong question... Perhaps I should be asking, are you that afraid that your belief system is that easily deconstructed...?"
Answer: Good question. We are not scared of atheists, although if we weren’t Christians, we should be. A very wise man once said, “Most I fear God. Next, I fear him who fears Him not.” Atheists are probably about as dangerous as “religious” people (as apposed to those who truly love God).. Religious people have killed millions throughout history in religious wars (the Crusades of the Catholic church, Islamic terrorism, etc.), the Spanish Inquisition (the murder of Christians by the Catholic church), the killing of the prophets of God (by religious Jews), the murder of Jesus, the persecution of the Church (see the Book of Acts for details, or read Foxes Book of Martyrs for greater and horrific detail). Religious hypocrites come in a close second to atheistic communism, which is responsible for 100 million deaths throughout history. If someone doesn’t fear God, they will lie to you (if they think that they can get away with it), they will steal from you (if they think they can get away with it), and they may even kill you (if they . . . you know why by now). The atheist thinks that he’s getting away with his sin. He denies that there is a God, and therefore he believes that there is no judgment for his actions. He may evade civil law, but there is no way he can ever evade God’s Law. God considers lust to be adultery, and hatred, murder. He sees the thought-life, and Jesus warned that even every idle word he speaks, he will have to give an account for on the Day of Judgment.
1 Peter 3:15-17 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. Ezekiel 3:18-19 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Power and money drives RELIGION, but not the personal relationship with our Saviour, Jesus Christ... even Jesus Christ threw out those who were interested only in money from the temple...

Please provide the biblical reference where Christ taught men and their RELIGION anything about the Spanish Inquistion or the Crusades... that was man, not God... show me where Christ tells the Christian believer today to kill to further His Kingdom??? RELIGION known as the Catholic church has very little Bible to prove their DOGMA and acts throughout history.
Finally, these posts are not directed just at you.... I never claimed you were an athiest... maybe someone bitter at the Christian church since you have seen many hypocrits and false acts based upon RELIGION.... but you also did not find the TRUTH about God from a study of God's Word the Bible (of course, since you ridicule the Bible for some reason, not as much as for what it says, vs. what you have been taught by others...). It's not a fair evaluation to judge a true Bible believer if you don't know what it says!!!
By the way, I have no problem sticking to the point if you take one topic on at a time.... I have mentioned several times, a discussion vs email would be the right format....

I appreciate your honest answers as always... thanks for answering some of my questions...
I need to say one final thing regarding one thing you mentioned; I believe your RELIGIOUS upbringing has "clouded" your judgment of the King James Bible... your view toward it by the brainwashing of your teachers is the very same thing you see toward the various RELIGIOUS leaders of today, brainwashing their followers...
I in turn, believe the King James Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, preserved Word of God for the English speaking people of today... it is my guide in my walk with the Lord. I use it to discern TRUTH from RELIGIOUS error... if it isn't in the bible, then it is of man... God promised to preserve His Word throughout all generations. He knew that English would become a world-wide language, and through the advent of the printing press, and the blessings of the two premier English speaking nations, England and USA, He used it to almost evangelize the entire world... I said ALMOST... there is still much to do... but unfortunately, the attack of His Word through MANY versions, the formation of many man-made RELIGIOUS DENOMINATIONS, and the overall deception of Satan promoting SELF over God has resulted in today's ever increasing God-less society....
I felt that the short summary of my thoughts above needed to be said.... trust His Word, not RELIGION.... look into His Word and see the TRUTH.... don't trust what men say about God, but search the TRUTH for yourself!!!

Well, I'm glad that you think I have a brain and maybe a little bit of sense.... that's progress!!! But at the same time, I do know you have a brain and some common sense toooooooo.....
Of course I understand the German Bible was printed first with the invention of the printing press, but surely you know which Bible has been printed the most throughout the last 400 years (KJB); has been used in all the missionary works throughout the world sent mainly by the churches of England and then America (KJB); and finally, the English King James Bible has been used to translate into many other languages of the world the Word of God to other countries. I did not claim that there were not legitimate Bible's in other languages, such as the German and Spanish translations, but you know I am not stretching the truth that the English Bible has been used throughout the world above that of the German or Spanish or any other (of course I am not including the Catholic versions, because they are not the true word of God... please forgive me for that statement!!!). You also know that England and America was blessed to the point and obtained world power whereby most countries today require English to be a part of their schooling in order to be able to communicate in day to day activities across the world... other countries learned English... we taught other languages as an elective, though they taught English as a standard.
I have no problem with you thinking that the above logic is off the wall, but a simple review of world history from the 1600's to the mid 1900's all point to the domination of England and America.... just sit back and ponder that for awhile.... of course today, the English language is not as dominant, and even here in America, we are pushing Spanish because of our open borders to the South and the influx of people here from those areas... instead of making them learn English, we don't want to offend them, and instead, we are bending over backwards to push Spanish on our own people....
It's getting late, but one final thought.... I believe you missed the point about the Bereans... please reread the verses... they searched the SCRIPTURES (God's written word to mankind) to see if what "the word they received of man" was so.... they did not accept the word of Paul unless it lined up with SCRIPTURE... That is the same thing we must do today... we must accept the Word of God as TRUTH.... and make sure what the RELIGIOUS leaders of today line up with the Word of God says.... if it doesn't, then it is false, ie office of pope, unmarried clergy, lent, images of Mary, infant baptism, lent, purgatory..... if the man of God teaches things found in the Word of God, then he can be followed.....
You, on the other hand, have it backwards... you have them searching all KNOWLEDGE instead of accepting by child-like FAITH that God has given us the Word of God so that we can know all about HIM!!! God has given us many promises in his Word.... why would we DOUBT the Word of God and HIS PROMISES....
Maybe we can continue this one thought via email.... on the East Coast, it is bedtime....I know out West, you are just now relaxing after a hard day at work....

I'll have to disagree with your first statement... the Word of God and His promises is not born within us....
We are born with a sin nature... we don't have to be taught how to sin.... it comes naturally.... just watch a baby sometime!!! Man has a free will, and in his natural state, he will always choose sin... he is born spiritually dead... God's Word and His Spirit are both needed to make his spirit become alive.... thus, the biblical terminology of a second birth... "ye must be born again"
I do agree that many today try to teach what they consider to be God's Word, but more often than not, they are willingly ignorant of its teachings, and rely more on RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS of man!!!
OK, I do know that you do not have much FAITH in RELIGION; but just what avenue are you placing your FAITH in order to know about God???
Is there anyone you trust to teach you about God???
Well, I know God speaks to me in English because that is my native language.... but God can speak to others in other languages if He so desires.... the problem is not God speaking.... the problem is many today are not listening.... they are too busy listening to worldly pleasures that feed their flesh... not their soul!!!
