Bible Inspiration

The Bible is amazing in that it can easily be shown to be inspired by God (to any reasonable person). It was written over a period of around 1,600 years, by between 40 and 50 authors from all walks of life, and yet there is a wonderful continuity of thought running throughout its pages. Take for instance the subject of “righteousness,” a word that is used 291 times in the King James Bible. The cross happened because God demanded perfect justice to satisfy His perfect righteousness. Look now at the amazing continuity of Scripture: Psalm 9:8 (written around 800 BC), warned that God will judge the world in righteousness: “And he shall judge the world in righteousness . . . .” The Book of Proverbs 11:4 warns again: “Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.” So, how can guilty sinners become righteous in the sight of a holy God? Hosea 10:12 tells us: “. . . for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” It was then on the Day of Pentecost that righteousness rained down from Heaven. Now God commands all men everywhere to repent. Why? “Because he has appointed a Day in which He will judge the world in righteousness.” As the Apostle Paul was about to die he said, “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing" (2 Tim 4:8). In the meanwhile, you and I wait for a new heavens and new earth "within dwells righteousness." So, what should we be doing as Christians while we wait? Daniel 12:3 tells us: “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."

That is a great excerpt. There is no doubt to anyone who is open minded that the Bible is the Word of God.

YOU SAY.
“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing" (2 Tim 4:8)
MY RESPONSE IS..
THAT’S SWEET. BUT A COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS OF PEOPLE DO NOT ALL THINK THE SAME WAY AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN EGO AND OTHER ASSORTED DAILY MALADIES WHICH COMMON SENSE [ GOD GIVEN BY THE WAY] SHOWS THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE IF ONE IS TO HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR CREATOR.
TIMMY GIVES THE IMPRESSION THAT IT’S A UNIVERSAL HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME. .
VERY AMBIGUOUS STATEMENT DON’T YA THINK?
DID GOD TRY AND CONFUSE TIMMY HERE? OR IS THAT THE BEST WAY HE [ TIMMY] COULD SAY IT?? IS AMBIGUITY THE NATURE OF GOD OR MAN??
IS THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS BEING TARNISHED BY THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOD CONSCIOUSNESS by the writer ,AND THERE FORE WATERED DOWN INTO SOME VERY AMBIGUOUS METAPHOR. TO PRESENT TO THE COLLECTION OF DISCIPLES WHO ARE LOOKING FOR INSPIRATION YET GET SOMEONE ELSE’S INTERPRETATION?????? CONFUSING DON’T YA THINK??
In the meanwhile, you and I wait for a new heavens and new earth "within dwells righteousness.
DUDE,. THAT’S TOTALLY CONTRADICTORY. IF YOU SNOOZE [ WAIT] YOU LOOSE. IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PURUSE THAT WHICH DWELLS WITHIN . [ RIGHTEOUSNESS] IT AINT GONNA COME TO YA. ITS THAT SIMPLE. GOD GAVE YOU A BRAIN . USE IT. . YOU SIT AROUND AND WAIT FOR IT IT AINT HAPPEN . YOUR LEFT OUT IN THE COLD. THAT’S CALLED COMMON SENSE .
AND REALLY KIND OF LAZY ON THE PART OF THE DISCIPLE WHO SEEMS TO BE BENDING AND TWISTING WORDS TO FIT HIS EVER CHANGING FANTASY HE CALLS REALITY AND THEN CALL IT " GODS WORD". [ POOR GOD. HE GETS such A BUM RAP ].

" So, what should we be doing as Christians while we wait?
WAIT?? YOUR GONNA WAIT?? . DUDE SEE ABOVE. THAT’S THE ULTIMATE PASSING THE BUCK. . THOSE THAT DO[ PURSUE GOD GET GOD ]. . THOSE THAT DON’T.
GET RELIGION. TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT BALL GAMES AND THE LATTER TOTALLY LOSES..

Daniel 12:3 tells us: “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."
UH JIM .. YOU BETTER LOOK AT THAT AGAIN //.. THOSE THAT ARE TURNED TO RIGHTEOUSNESS ARE AGAIN GETTING A BUM RAP. THAT’S ONLY AN INTELLECTUALIZATION WHICH IS NOT THE SAME A S RIGHTEOUSNESS[ SELF KNOWLEDGE OR GOD CONSCIOUSNESS ] FROM WITHIN . AND TO ASSUME JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS "TURNED" TOWARD SOMEONE ELSES WISDOM DOES NOT MAKE THAT PERSON WISE. IT INDEED CREATES MORE IGNORANCE AND CONFUSION OF WHAT TRUTH THERE IS IN WISDOM WHICH COMES FROM SELF KNOWLEDGE AND NOT BECAUSE SOME ONE SAID SO.
I THINK DANNY IN CHAPT 12 WAS SIPPIN TO MUCH HONEY WINE WHEN HE SCRIBBLED THAT LITTLE GEM OUT [ EWWWWW THEY DID DRINK HONEY WINE. ISNT THAT DISGUSTING. ????]

Sattvicwarrior,

I hope you have had a good week...
thanks for stopping by to see me again and taking the time to leave me a comment.

First off, Timothy did not write the first verse which you have failed miserably to provide a good understanding of what it clearly says.... Paul is the human author that God uses to write the book of 2 Timothy.... clearly identified in the first two verses of the book.

2 Tim. 1:1-2 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Second, apparently you haven't seen these verses either through your Bible study which Paul, again through the guidance of the Holy Spirit to pen, writes to tell us about the natural man in this epistle to the church at Corinth... by the way, a natural man is the biblical term for a man with no knowledge of God within him... this man still lives with his natural sin nature and does not have the Holy Spirit living within him since he has not been born again....

1 Cor. 2:11-14 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The verses above show you why you don't have a clear understanding of God's Word.... and human wisdom will only get you in trouble!!!

Your understanding of the verse given from the book of Daniel gets a failing grade too; but I do appreciate your persistance and zeal. Surely you must know that Daniel passed on the king's wine offered to him as one of the children of the captivity.... but I'll share some clear verses for you on this one too....

Dan. 1:5-8, 16-17 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king. Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse. As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Since you missed these two obvious truths from God's Word, there is no sense giving you a clear explanation of the two passages from a Bible believer.....

Please carve out some time from your busy schedule and sit down and read God's Word with an open and sincere heart and mind.... but at that same time, be warned that it may cut away at you in some manner..... start out with the book of John.

Heb. 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

You can not pick up God's Word and read it without it impacting you in some manner.... it will either bring light to your dark world, or it will make you even more dogmatic in your attempts to ridicule it and the God which has given it to us to know more about Him.
