Is Your Desire To Be An Average Christian???

A pastor friend recently shared this illustration about being average;

A college professor sometime ago through a study of national statistics, discovered that the average depth of rivers in America is two and one-half feet. Yet he drowned the next year trying to wade across the Mississippi River. Accepting the average may be dangerous.

When a person is average, he is just as near the bottom as he is the top. In this light, an average Christian is subnormal while our Lord redeems us for a nobler kind of living. The average church member attends one service each week - some weeks.

If churches were open for the average member, they would operate only on a part time basis.

To be only an average Christian - is both subnormal and dangerous!

What about you friend??? Do you desire to be an average Christian??? Do you desire to be an average Bible reader...... spend an average time in prayer....... be an average soul winner..... be an average giver?????

The Word of God speaks a word of warning about being average in another way; being average is the same as being lukewarm!!!!!

Rev. 3:15-16 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Allow me to ask again; if you searched deep into your heart to determine your motives and desire to walk as a Christian, would you be satisfied with just being AVERAGE????? If not, then what are you going to do about it?????

Amen!! I know that I personally don't want to be classified as "average" in my walk with Christ. There is no power in the life of an average Christian. And we need people who know Christ that are above-average and making a difference for Christ to see souls come to know the Savior.

Sis. Julie,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.... average is the worst of the best or the best of the worst; with God's help and allowing the Spirit of God within us to control our life, we can easily be above average in our personal walk with God!!!
