Walking Daily in the Word of God

(Here is an excerpt from Bro. Tim Tomlinson's article in the Faith for the Family Journal, volume one, issue one. The outline is very practical and should be a help to those who faithfully desire to read God's word daily, seeking something from the Lord which will make some impact upon their daily Christian walk.)
  1. STOP - Before you open God's word, stop all other activities and remove any distractions. Give the Lord your full attention. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
  2. READ - Read the word of God thoughtfully and carefully. Have a planned reading schedule, and read the passage thoroughly. 1 Tim. 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
  3. MEDITATE - Think about what you just read, asking the question, "What is God saying?" Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
  4. WRITE - As God by His Spirit speaks to you, take the time to write down the truths you are discovering in His word. Make a record of what God is specifically saying to you. Hab. 2:2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
  5. PRAY - When you are abiding in the Lord and in His word, you are ready to meet Him in prayer. Our Saviour not only longs to speak to us, He also longs to hear us speak to Him. Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
  6. OBEY - God's relevation to us demands a response. His word is to be acted upon. The purpose of knowing the Scriptures is not to obtain knowledge, but to glorify God by living in obedience to His will. Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
  7. SHARE - The Holy Spirit will continue to teach us His word if we are willing to pass it along to others. Deliberately share with others the treasures you have found in the Scriptures. Be a living testimony of the power of the word of God. 2 Tim. 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Excellent post!! The last one is the one that needs more attention. I think that sharing part is the one that is most left off the list.

Very good and very helpful. Although these are all things I know it is nice to be reminded of what we need to do.
