EIGHT REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD STUDY THE BIBLE

2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Tim. 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
  1. You should study the Bible for a biblical foundation on which to grow. 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
  2. You should study the Bible for spiritual strength and power for this life as a believer in a world under the curse of sin.
  3. You should study the Bible that may grow in Bible knowledge.
  4. You should study the Bible that you be a success to the glory of God. Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
  5. You should study the Bible in that you give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to motivate you to greater things for the Lord.
  6. You should study the Bible that you may know God's perfect will for your life. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
  7. You should study the Bible that you may be an effective soul winner.
  8. You should study the Bible so that you may "sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear."

Good stuff. If we spent more time each day in God's Word and prayer, how much more could/would God do with us!?!
