Reasons for Preaching the Word of God

Mark 2:1-2 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

Isa. 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

We have been sent unto the world to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ as He is revealed by God through the Holy Spirit in His inspired and preserved Word of God, the Bible.
  1. Conviction of sin comes through the preaching of the Word of God - in Peter's Pentecost sermon, Acts 2:14-37, nine verses are quotations from the Old Testament.
  2. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God - Rom. 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
  3. Cleansing comes from the Word of God - 2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. The promises are found in the Bible.
  4. Assurance comes from the Word of God - 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
  5. Comfort comes from the Word of God - 1 Thes. 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. These words of comfort are found in the Bible.
  6. Truth comes from the Word of God - Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 3 John 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
  7. The new birth comes from the Word of God - 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

God's Word is powerful, but people just don't take it in anymore. Only 35% of Bible-believing Christians have ever read the entire New Testament! Nowadays people are listening to the Bible and getting fed. That's what I do. I downloaded a free audio bible at www.FaithComesByHearing.com

Thanks for the encouragement.
